The Fern Hollow Bugle

Apologies to all our readers for the very long gap since the last edition of The Fern Hollow Bugle. We have just been too busy to prepare another edition, however we are delighted to publish below a story sent to us by Miss Camille Cappello of New York. At the time of writing this story, Miss Cappello was almost 8 years of age. We think it's a great story and hope all our readers do, too.

Dr Bushy by Miss C Cappello of New York

One day Dr. Bushy was happily organizing his office then all of a sudden he heard barking it was Mr. Acorn and in his arms WAS A DOG! Hello Mr. Acorn and friend. Don't you just love him except I don't know what kind it is I think it's a Jack Russell you could call him Lucky Jack Pot (Lucky for short) I like that name. Could you watch him today? Sure. A few minutes later he heard purring, and it was Blodger and this time WITH A CAT! Again he didn't know what type it was or what to name it.

It is an alley cat it's not really a house pet but if you really want it you can call it Digit ok. Ding dong Hello Mr. Acorn, thank you for bringing Lucky over. I'm very busy today. Well, I thought you might be so I brought him to you instead well may I ask why you brought him over. I have to bake some chocolate cookies and Mr. Rusty told me dogs get sick from it. That is true and you know dogs like to dig their heads in food. They don't know what makes them sick. So I was hoping you could watch him so he won't get sick. Well you go bake and I'll watch Lucky bye and thank you now Lucky make yourself at home. Woof. Ring ring hello oh Blodger how`s Digit ?

I don't want him anymore, he ruined the flower beds and the topiary is all messed up so there's leaves all over !!! Whom are you going to give it to? Boris Blink, he always wanted an orange and white cat and Leapys Uncle owns a pet food shop so he won't go hungry good day.

I sure hope Boris is fine with Digit, right Lucky. Woof. Ring ring, Hello Mr. Acorn oh my! He ate everything so now I have to make another mince pie for Pipa because it's her birthday so I'm giving it to lord Trundle he's wants a dog.

Good bye. Ok. Lucky lets go to Trundle berry Manor. Hello lord Trundle here is Lucky why thank you for bringing him over. I'm sure he'll find it very cozy here good bye. Well now to get some rest Ring ring hello Boris how`s Digit doing he made markings on the shelves and scratched up all the books so I let him go free and the same thing happened to lord Trundle except he broke some of the china and ashes are everywhere so he let Lucky loose good bye.

Hello is Brock Gruffy there? Why yes he is here he is. Hello is your uncle still a pet keeper yes could come and meet me behind the oak tree? Sure, yes could you please take these animals to a better home because no body wants him. Sure, I can do that but first we have to stop at the bakery to get a mince pie and then I can take them somewhere. Mr. Acorn may we have a mince pie? Why of course, here you go thank you.

Soon they put the mince pie in the in the truck and then once Lucky and Digit got the smell they went running in and SMACK! The door shut and Lucky and Digit were off. One day Dr. Bushy was working in his office and then he heard something it sounded like a gerbil but it was just Pipa she had a cold.
